Latinos are the community with the largest number of people without health insurance: 24.9% of Hispanic adults were unprotected at some point during the worst year of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to figures released Tuesday by the Census Bureau a based on the most recent data, from 2020.
This figure is three tenths higher than that registered in 2018, and much higher than the proportion of whites (7.7%), blacks (14.3%) and Asians (7.7%) without protection.
Latinos under 19 were also the most unprotected demographic (9.5% were uninsured), ahead of blacks (14.3%), whites, and Asians (both at 7.7%).

Overall, 8.6% of the population, or 28 million people, lacked health insurance at some point in 2020, the Census Bureau explained.
The Joe Biden government opened a special period to sign up for Obamacare after his arrival at the White House, and this Wednesday he reported that almost three million people registered during that six-month period to obtain more affordable subsidized health insurance within of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

"These are 2.8 million families who will have more security, more space to breathe and more money in their pockets if an illness or accident affects them," the president said in a statement.

Biden also noted that government subsidies have saved people who already had Obamacare insurance about $ 67 a month;
and that four out of 10 new customers from the last special enrollment term will find health coverage for $ 10 a month or less.
