Questions about measurements and marriage for everyone: child reporters trip Laschet

2021-09-15T10:17:29.438Z

The Chancellor candidates from Union and SPD answered questions from two eleven-year-olds on the television show "Late Night Berlin". Armin Laschet sometimes resorted to evasive tactics and counter questions.

According to a phrase, Kindermund not only reveals the truth, it can also ask unpleasant questions.

Armin Laschet in particular found it difficult to explain the television program "Late Night Berlin" broadcast on Tuesday evening with Klaas Heufer-Umlauf on ProSieben.

In the program, the Union's candidate for chancellor - like Olaf Scholz - was interviewed by the eleven-year-olds Pauline and Romeo.

Laschet and Scholz settled down on a small children's chair in a tent furnished with cuddly toys - and were then asked to comment on topics such as the flood in North Rhine-Westphalia, migration, the Navalny case, the Wirecard scandal and the mask affair.

Another topic was the controversial Thuringian CDU politician Hans-Georg Maaßen.

When asked whether he was a right-wing man, Laschet replied with the counter-question whether Romeo knew Maassen.

In any case, Maassen is not a Nazi.

Anyone who would say that is unfair, says Laschet.

Laschet did not answer the question clearly on the subject of gay marriage either.

He denied being against the marriage of men.

Romeo referred to an older "SPIEGEL" interview.

Then Laschet simply said: "You read 'SPIEGEL' so long ago, but that's great." To which Romeo: "No, I googled it."

The children also asked questions about the Hambach Forest and the court decision that the clearing of the tree houses was against the law.

Laschet said it was not against the law.

There is still a higher court that has to look again.

"Is Putin a murderer?"

Scholz too had to deal with questions that were uncomfortable for him.

Romeo asked whether Russian President Vladimir Putin was a murderer.

Putin is responsible for the fact that many people in Russia are threatened with their lives, said Scholz.

Then Romeo wanted to know why children had to drown in the sea because they wanted to go to Germany and why an airplane wasn't just sent to them.

Scholz replied that many were looking for ways that were not safe, that one had to try to save them and make their homeland safer.

In addition, something must be done to protect them.

The children wanted to know whether he could have prevented the Wirecard scandal.

"No, the responsible authorities could not prevent that."

In the social networks, the two young reporters were celebrated for the ten-minute clips.

Next week, the interview with the top candidate of the Greens, Annalena Baerbock, will be broadcast on the “Late Night Berlin”.
