Curtain up for Art Mile 8 in the city of Wolfratshausen.

The official starting shot will be given on September 17th.

Wolfratshausen - Around 70 artists will transform downtown Wolfratshausen from Friday, September 17th to Sunday, October 10th, at 57 locations into a huge gallery.

Organizational manager Carmen Gröbmair-Jonas and the chairman of the Lebendige Altstadt Wolfratshausen (LAW), Ernst Gröbmair, revealed to our newspaper in a press conference what exactly awaits visitors to what is now the eighth art mile.

Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner will open the major event on Friday at 4 p.m. with a short address in the inner courtyard of the town hall.

“After that, the visitors should go straight into town,” says Gröbmair-Jonas.

Because the late-night shopping, originally planned in cooperation with the Werbekreis Kaufstadt Wolfratshausen, had to be canceled due to organizational difficulties.

“But the business people have promised us that, depending on the rush, they may be open a little longer,” assured the head of organization.

Hydro show on Friday nights on the riverside

As the highlight of the first evening, Gröbmair-Jonas announced a two-hour hydro show that can be seen at the old raft landing after sunset.

It will once again be staged by the city council's cultural advisor, Alfred Fraas, who had already provided a colorful spectacle on the banks of the Loisach at the “White Dinner” in August (we reported).

It is there that the stage construction team of the Loisachtaler Bauernbühne will build a “green Toblerone” from pallets.

There will be a lot to see in the Burgschenke in Humplgassl.

The restaurant, which has been closed for a long time, has invited the coat of arms painter Herold von Palnkamm to celebrate its reopening.

Due to the limited number of seats, please reserve in advance.

It is important that the old town becomes even more attractive with the art mile.

Ernst Gröbmair, chairman of the LAW association

The Loisachpassage between Marktstrasse and the river will be illuminated from Friday by a light installation by Günter Klügl, who already impressed with his work at events organized by the Isar-Loisach cultural association in the Schwankl-Eck.

"It is important that the old town with the art mile becomes even more attractive," emphasized LAW boss Gröbmair.

As a decorative element, white high tables will be in front of some shops from September 17th.

As in 2019, the Japanese Garden on Johannisgassse is adorned with stylish lanterns.

Only on the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd does the Klecks School of Imagination join the art mile.

The team of lecturers Barbara Kachler, Christine Lobo, Daniela Satzinger, Kerstin Vetter and Johannes Anzenhofer will present their sculptures, collages, illustrations and paintings in the rooms on Untermarkt.

A stroll through the city is therefore worthwhile.

As in previous years, the art mile stretches from the Obermarkt and Untermarkt via Bahnhofstraße, the Floßkanal and Sauerlacher Straße to the Weidachmühle on Äußere Münchner Straße.

The range of exhibits includes realistic and abstract paintings as well as sculptures made of wood, stone, metal and clay.
