Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, announced that the Russian Federation calls on its partners in the International Atomic Energy Agency not to politicize dealing with Iran, including the issue of nuclear particles discovered.
The politicization of these issues obstructs the normal course of work, while we all need to focus more on current affairs and tasks, calling on the Agency’s General Secretariat and IAEA member states to “reduce the severity of Tension over these issues, not politicizing them, and strengthening quiet technical cooperation with the Iranian side.”
Referring to the “adverse consequences of any political speculation and external pressure that lead the issue to a dead end,” Ulyanov said that Iran’s remaining questions regarding the detected particles of nuclear material do not deserve such close attention by the Council due to their historical or even pre-historic nature as well as the absence of Risks from the point of view of nuclear nonproliferation at present.
