Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Bassam Sabbagh, affirmed that Syria continues its constructive cooperation with UN agencies and other partners to improve the humanitarian situation and provide services and support to those in need throughout the country.
Sabbagh said during a session of the Security Council that the Turkish occupation forces and its terrorist tools obstructed the arrival of an aid convoy to the Atarib area, which the Syrian government had granted the United Nations approval to run.
Sabbagh added that Syria is committed to working to deliver aid from within and adheres to its position calling for an end to the politicized "cross-border mechanism" that violates its sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that the Western coercive economic measures imposed on Syria have led to a significant shortage of food, medicine, medical supplies, fuel and energy. electrical.
Sabbagh pointed out that improving the humanitarian situation requires full respect for Syria's sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and integrity, a principle stressed by all relevant Security Council resolutions, stressing the need to end the illegal foreign military presence on Syrian territory and stop the crimes and practices of the US and Turkish occupation forces in support of terrorism and looting. wealth and economic resources.
Sabbagh stressed that the illegal blockade imposed by the United States and the European Union on the Syrian people, which represents collective punishment and economic terrorism, must be immediately lifted.
Sabbagh said: The West should stop the destructive approach and stop investing in terrorism and forming illegal alliances under the pretext of combating it, stressing that Syria is looking forward to real partnerships that support its efforts to restore security and stability, provide aid to those in need, enhance development work and rehabilitate infrastructure to ensure the return of the displaced.
