The Committee for Monuments and Artistic Works in Public Spaces of Mexico City will decide in the coming weeks which statue will be installed in the Glorieta de Colón on Paseo de la Reforma avenue. This was reported on Tuesday by the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, who said that this process adheres to the current norm. The decision comes after the authorities removed a statue of Christopher Columbus in one of the most emblematic avenues of the country's capital and planned to replace it with a figure of an indigenous woman's head with the name of "Tlali." However, the prototype of the sculpture caused criticism and ridicule on social networks.
