The kindergarten situation in Kirchseeon is tense.

The institutions are desperately looking for new educators.

Kirchseeon

- It sounds contradicting itself.

Kirchseeon currently has, at least structurally, enough places for care in kindergartens and crèches.

Nevertheless, there is a waiting list for parents who are looking for a place for their offspring.

The reason: lack of staff.

This became clear in a report by Angela Paschiller (City Hall Department for Social Affairs, Family and Seniors) in the local council.

“It's catastrophic.

I've never experienced anything like it in the past few years. ”There have been situations where groups had to be closed.

And the opening times until 5 p.m. could not always be served in the facilities.

"We can no longer find anyone who works that long." The staff is often overwhelmed.

That is why there are many sick leave.

Shortage of staff in day-care centers: Munich recruits kindergarten staff

The numbers are clear.

Ten educators and nannies are currently being sought for the area of the community.

20 kindergarten and 24 day nursery places cannot be allocated.

One reason for the staff shortage is probably the cost of living.

According to Paschiller, these are now just as high in Kirchseeon as in Munich.

This also applies to housing costs.

As a measure, the municipality is now offering an apartment in order to be able to make an offer to possible employees who want to start in a Kirchseeon facility.

Another point is that the state capital of Munich is openly poaching kindergarten staff.

There is a "bounty" of up to 1500 euros for a job change.

In addition, the people of Munich often paid a large room allowance and sometimes covered travel expenses.

Because of the corona pandemic, 17 children could not go to school

"Munich is beckoning with sweets", says Thomas Kroll (SPD), who as an AWO employee already knows his way around the industry professionally.

“All I do every day is to look for educators,” he said.

He proposed a “labor market allowance”.

This also in view of the financial situation of the care staff.

“In addition to a full-time position, some need a part-time job to make ends meet.

We have to think about affordable housing. "

There are other reasons for the current shortage situation.

One is Corona.

17 children were not enrolled in school because of the pandemic and remained in kindergarten, so-called deferrals.

"We are still a family-friendly community," said Paschiller.

Probably also an argument for moving to the municipality, especially from Munich.

Staff shortage in Kirchseeon kindergartens: the situation seems to be getting worse

20 families have newly settled in the market in the past few months.

If this development continues, the situation could worsen and then there might not be enough structural space.

“I have a stomachache when there is construction going on on site,” said Paschiller.

She therefore campaigned to look for solutions quickly.

Mayor Jan Paeplow (CSU) said there were already some good ideas.

However, these are not yet fully developed.

On the subject of staff shortages, the mayor named a school for care staff on site in Kirchseeon as one approach.

Not only the community, but the whole district can benefit from this.
