Just before the crossing closes: About 2,200 Israelis went on vacation in the Sinai Peninsula this morning (Wednesday), ahead of Yom Kippur, 48 hours after Transport Minister Merav Michaeli announced the removal of restrictions on entry into Sinai and the opening of tolls for all, without restriction.
From the early hours of the morning, even before the border crossing opened, there was a large queue at the entrance.
The Airports Authority, which operates the border crossing, identified the pressure and increased the number of workers from Ramon Airport and even ordered the crossing to be opened early in order to prevent congestion.
The PA announced that although the crossing was officially closed in the afternoon, "no Israeli will remain outside."
"Plan to dive, rest and play the guitar."
Thousands of Israelis crossed the border today at the Taba crossing.
