The community garden on Fischhaberstraße in Penzberg is now to be laid out quickly.

In the past few weeks, the city has drawn up house rules and a usage concept for the area.

Skeptics, however, expect the project to fail in the long term.

Penzberg -

There are now community gardens in many places. In cities, this type of gardening together under the catchwords “urban gardening” or “urban gardening” is the trend. As reported, the parliamentary group of “Penzberg together” (PM) applied at the beginning of February to provide an urban area in Penzberg for this purpose. The “Environment and Climate Protection” department in the city administration then started looking for possible locations. At their June meeting, the members of the finance committee finally agreed, after a lengthy discussion, on a green area of around 1,100 square meters next to the cemetery parking lot on Fischhaberstrasse. In the past few weeks, the city administration has developed a usage concept and established house rules. Both documents have now been discussed by the members of the Finance Committee at their meeting on Tuesday.

Nocturnal rest periods planned

Above all, Ute Frohwein-Sendl (PM) had some suggestions: In her view, for example, it should be prohibited to grow plants from which narcotics could be obtained.

In addition, because of the proximity of the community garden to the cemetery, hobby gardeners should observe certain rest times, demanded Frohwein-Sendl.

She envisaged quiet times from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU) would like to have Frohwein-Sendl's suggestions checked again and then incorporated into the usage concept and house rules if necessary.

Regina Bartusch (SPD), on the other hand, criticized "so much regulation" and clashed with what she believed to be "strict house rules".

She and her parliamentary group are also not satisfied with the location - among other things because the urban area on Fischhaberstraße is not fenced and could therefore be contaminated by dog or cat droppings.

No fencing for the time being

Bartusch would have found it better if the community garden had been laid out in the "Breitfilz" allotment garden.

The selected area at the cemetery should not be fenced in for the time being, said Mayor Korpan.

First of all, they want to wait and see how the project starts, how it develops and whether the site is possibly overgrown.

Christian Abt expressed himself generally skeptical as to whether the project will be successful in the long term. He does believe that it will start "quite euphorically" for the time being.

But over the years the interest of the hobby gardener would "wane" more and more, feared the CSU city council.

Mayor Korpan saw it calmly: The city "is now ready to start," said the town hall chief.

Then we will wait and see how it develops over the next few years.

City would like to provide 3000 euros as start-up aid

The city would like to provide 3000 euros once for the community garden - as a kind of start-up aid for the hobby gardener. Among other things, raised beds are to be bought from it, which are also to be set up and filled by the building yard employees. Users have to take care of equipment, seeds or the maintenance of a compost heap themselves. There was no kind of lease for the area or the raised beds - we were initially talking about about ten such beds - Korpan said when asked. “We make it available.” Around 21 interested citizens would take part in the project. The Penzberg local group of the Bund Naturschutz supports the project with 500 euros. The city also said that the fruit and horticultural association wanted to support the project with financial resources and expertise.According to Korpan, the community garden is to be put into practice "soon".
