16 Nigerian soldiers were killed in an ambush by militants in Borno State, northeast of the country.
AFP quoted military sources as saying that an attack carried out by members of the terrorist organization Daesh in West Africa targeted a military convoy yesterday, using explosive devices, rocket-propelled grenades and heavy weapons.
The sources pointed out that the attack resulted in the killing of 16 soldiers and two members of a civilian armed group, in addition to the families of two soldiers, and wounding 11 others, as well as destroying several army vehicles.
This attack is one of the most deadly operations this year by the terrorist organization ISIS in West Africa on Nigerian forces that have been fighting militants in the northeast of the country for nearly 12 years.
