Oktoberfest 2022 will take place - at least that is what Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU) promises.
However, the conditions are still unclear.
Munich
- The Oktoberfest in Munich had to pause this year due to the corona pandemic - for the second year in a row.
For many people from Bavaria and all over the world it was a bitter loss, not least for the city of Munich itself, for which a major economic factor is no longer present.
Wiesn boss and economic advisor Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU) has now
assured
in an interview with
Bayerischer Rundfunk
that everything will be done to allow the Wiesn to take place again next year.
"I am sure that we will have a Oktoberfest in 2022," said Baumgärtner.
However, it is being discussed under what conditions this will be possible.
Oktoberfest 2022: Baumgärtner promises Wiesn - access requirements unclear
Since an Oktoberfest with a distance and masks seems neither imaginable nor feasible, it would be possible that the visitors would have to adjust to certain access rules, explains Baumgärtner.
In principle, he considers a 2G rule, i.e. access to the Oktoberfest only for people who have either been vaccinated against the coronavirus or have recovered from it, to be possible.
Baumgärtner is also considering compulsory corona testing.
There are no more detailed plans yet, according to the Wiesn boss.
However, the Oktoberfest in 2022 will certainly not be the only major event.
That is why it is all the more important to develop measures and techniques that guarantee a safe process.
These could then also be used at other events.

2G rule in the Oktoberfest tent: planning based on the Oktoberfest visitor concept is ongoing
Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) had already expressed his approval for a Oktoberfest in 2022 in June.
At the time, he spoke of a concept that would be worked out together with experts.
Reiter left it open whether these experts also include virologists, who view the planning of the whole thing rather critically.
In fact, Christoph Spinner, the pandemic officer at the Klinikum rechts der Isar, does not currently consider it possible to make a serious statement about the planning of such a major event in the next year, as too many external factors - such as virus variants or vaccination progress - would have an influence.
Oktoberfest 2022: Experts are still skeptical - landlords scratch their hooves
It would be a huge relief for hosts and showmen, who have been particularly hard hit by the pandemic. But due to the high international interest in Oktoberfest, which is visited by up to six million people from all over the world, the question of the implementation of Corona rules and visitor requirements remains unanswered for the time being. Because a precise review of test and vaccination certificates at the entrances and exits of the Oktoberfest should be difficult.
