The British Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raeb, was removed from office last night (Wednesday) and has been appointed Minister of Justice and Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
This is against the background of the criticism that Rab has received about the management of Britain's withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Raab's successor as Secretary of State is Elizabeth Trass, who previously served as Minister of International Trade.
At the same time, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced further significant changes in his cabinet in an attempt to refocus recovery from the corona plague.
Johnson has previously faced calls to fire Rab, after the latter went on holiday in Greece while the Taliban advanced towards the Afghan capital Kabul.
It was further alleged that Rab spent time on the beach in Crete on the day Kabul was captured.
Raab in those days denied the reports and refused to consider his resignation, but admitted in retrospect that he may have been wrong when he decided to go on holiday in parallel with the Taliban's rapid progress towards Kabul.

Also, shortly before the extremist organization seized power in the country, Rab asked one of his deputies to speak urgently with the Afghan Foreign Minister, to make sure that interpreters who worked with the British military forces would be evacuated from the country safely. However, the conversation never took place. Further criticism was leveled at the Foreign Ministry, headed by Raab, after it was discovered that thousands of emails sent to the ministry by people seeking to leave Afghanistan urgently had not been answered.
The new foreign minister, Tras, is considered one of the most popular politicians in the Conservative Party, and will move to the Foreign Office after being able to complete several trade deals since Britain left the EU. Trass will be the second woman to serve as foreign minister, after Margaret Beckett held the post between 2006 and 2007.
Education Minister Gavin Williamson, Justice Minister Robert Buckland and Housing Minister Robert Generic have also been fired.
Cabinet Minister Michael Gov will replace Generic in the Ministry of Housing, while Anne-Marie Trablian will serve as Minister of International Trade, resigning as Minister of Climate.
In contrast, the finance and Brexit ministers will remain in office.
"The government I appointed today will work tirelessly to unite and raise the level across the country," Prime Minister Johnson wrote on Twitter.
"We will build better from the plague and deliver on your priorities."

Johnson urges his government to address the economic inequality that has worsened after the eruption of the corona. The fight against inequality was one of Johnson's main election promises in 2019, in which the Conservatives recorded the biggest victory since the days of Margaret Thatcher. On the other hand, the plague and the scandals in which his ministers were involved overshadowed the issue.
Conservative party sources believe that the numerous reports of Johnson's threats to make changes in his government have helped him secure legislators' support for raising taxes designed to fund health and social services. The plan has come under heavy scrutiny because it has hit the lowest-income earners the hardest.
The party has since plummeted in the polls as Labor in the opposition has strengthened, and among those replaced yesterday was also its chairman.
Former Culture Minister Oliver Deuden will replace him.
Johnson's critics have accused him of trying to push aside Labor's planned vote on the government's plan to abolish additional support for low-income families.
However, some conservative lawmakers said the move should have happened a long time ago.
One of them, who spoke anonymously, told Reuters he compared the government to a "crab-eating" ship.
