Among them, four defendants, including Liu Yingkuang and Zou Jiacheng, appeared in the District Court today. Liu said he planned to plead guilty, while the remaining three pleaded not guilty.
Judge Guo Weijian also adjourned the case of the four persons to May 29, 2023, and proceeded to defend and start the trial respectively.
When the case was heard again last time, Liu Weikuang, Fan Junwen, Zou Jiacheng, and Lin Jin did not formally express their intention to defend, so they will be postponed for further processing today.
Liu Jin stated that he intends to plead guilty to a crime of riot, and that the crime of "entering or staying in the confines of the conference hall" will remain in the court file and will not be prosecuted.
The other three pleaded not guilty. The 10 people who pleaded not guilty earlier will also be tried on May 29, 2023. It is expected that it will take 44 days. Liu will also formally reply on the same day.
Another case will be pre-trial on April 28, 2023, one month before the trial.
The 14 defendants include: Huang Jiahao (20 years old, student), Luo Lesheng (19 years old, chef), He Junyan (21 years old, transportation worker), Bi Huifen (24 years old, unemployed), Sun Xiaolan (23 years old, freelance worker), Pan Haochao (31 years old), Liu Yingkuang (26 years old), Shen Jingle (23 years old, construction worker), Ma Qicong (30 years old, reporter), Wang Zongyao (42 years old, artist), Wu Zhiyong (26 years old), Fan Junwen (28 years old), Zou Jiacheng (24 years old) and Lin Jinjun (25 years old).
