The federal prosecutor's office has brought charges against an alleged member and three alleged supporters of the terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra.

As the Karlsruhe authority announced on Thursday, the four men, all of whom have German and some other citizenships, will answer before the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court.

The authority accuses the alleged member of having traveled to Syria in 2013 and trained there in the use of firearms.

He also took part in combat operations.

In Turkey, the man had obtained money to finance his stay with the association involved in the civil war in Syria or to finance its terrorist activities.

He was arrested in Senegal last September and extradited to Germany.

He has been in custody since the beginning of May for membership in a foreign terrorist organization.

The other three men are said to have raised money for the terrorist organization.
