Fraudsters steal money in the five-digit range through shock phone calls

By voice call, strangers steal money from mainly elderly people.

It was only on Tuesday that an 81-year-old was the victim of a shock call.

Regensburg - Despite repeated warnings, thieves always manage to steal money by phone calls from older people.

This was also the case on Tuesday (September 14th), when strangers called an elderly woman from Regensburg and stole a sum in the five-digit range.

As the criminal police Regensburg * writes, it has taken over the investigation. 

Regensburg: Warning against call center fraudsters 

The target group of “call center fraudsters” are mostly older people who are cheated of their savings.

The crooks call the seniors and pretend to be in an emergency situation or to be out of office.

So they put the victims under pressure and get them to give them money. 

On Tuesday, an 81-year-old was the victim of these "shock calls".

She was told that her daughter was on trial for being guilty of a serious traffic accident.

In the case, the caller pretended to be an employee of the local court and asked for a five-digit amount to be used as a "bail" for the daughter. 

Concerned about her daughter, the lady agreed and handed the amount of money to an unknown woman around 2:30 p.m. in the Brandlberg-Keilberg district

The woman who received the money is described as follows: She should be around mid-30s, around 1.65 meters tall and slim.

She has black curls that reach her shoulder.

Plus, she's a darker guy and wore a pink top.
