Würmtal - two games, two defeats.
The women of HSG Würm-Mitte made a classic false start at the start of the 3rd division.
After the 23:28 (8:16) defeat at HC Erlangen, the Wildcats got under the wheels in the derby at home against HCD Gröbenzell with 20:29 (9:18).
"In the first half we didn't get our pace optimally," said HSG trainer Miriam Hirsch. "The second half was more balanced, although we struggled to attack," added Hirsch. At first, your team didn't get along at all. Groebenzell lived up to his role as a favorite from the first minute and quickly pulled away with five goals. As a result, the guests punished the simple mistake in the HSG attack ice cold with fast counter goals. As a result, the hosts were already hopelessly behind with nine goals when they switched sides. After the break, things went better for the wildcats. This at least kept the gap constant. But they could no longer be dangerous to Groebenzell.
A week before that in Erlangen, the HSG women started nervously into the game. Nevertheless, they acted up to 5: 5 on an equal footing with the hosts. Marika Hannemann in the HSG gate compensated for the weaknesses of the people in front with a few parades during this phase. The injury to circle player Laura Steger in the middle of the first half then caused a blow in the neck for the guests, from which they did not recover until the break. Without a defensive vote and with a very poor exploitation of chances, the HSG women fell behind by eight goals when they switched sides. The hope of a turnaround after the break was not fulfilled. Erlangen continued to dictate what happened, not least because the wildcats were unable to eliminate their sources of error. The lead of the hosts continued to grow until 19: 9 (36th).The injury to HSG playmaker Kathi Krecken, who suffered a laceration on the head after a collision with a teammate, also made it difficult for the guests. Only a change in defense brought about improvement. But the women from Würmtal couldn't get closer to the Franconians than five goals.
Next Saturday (5.30 p.m., Würm-Arena) the next home game against the newly promoted TuS Steißlingen is already on the agenda.
"We are expecting a very strong newcomer, but we want to get the first two points," said Hirsch confidently.
