Hausham - Tobias Öttl from Hausham dances with his partner Franziska Peßler from Ebersberg at the German championship.

This is where the rock and roll couple need help.

After a two-year break, Franziska Peßler from Ebersberg and house host Tobias Öttl want to go back to the dance floor.

They are currently doing their best in training for the German championship at the end of September in Worms and are looking forward to support from home at the dress rehearsal in Hausham on Saturday, September 18.

The trophy from the last tournament of the rock'n'roll couple, which starts for the RRC Rosenheim, is still in sight in the living room - and yet third place at the southern German championship in April 2019 was two years ago.

After that, the two of them took an almost one-year sports break due to the final phase of training to become Franziska Peßler's gymnastics teacher.

Corona prevents comeback

Even if the two were determined to celebrate their comeback in tournament sport at the beginning of 2020, the plan should not become reality anytime soon, because tournament sport was brought to a complete standstill by the corona pandemic.

Resuming training was only possible between the two lockdowns from July to October 2020.

But the compulsory break did not leave the dance couple unused: A completely new foot technique program was developed with new music, new dance figures and new choreography.

Peßler and Öttl have been practicing these acrobatics and the acrobatics specific to rock'n'roll since mid-June in order to prepare for the German championship at the end of September.

This is the first competition in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic, which is why no qualification is necessary this year.

Valuable tips from Switzerland

At the beginning of September, the two even went to Switzerland to get valuable tips from international coaches at a friendly club in Bern.

"After the intensive weeks and months of training, we feel well prepared for the big tournament and hope that we can present ourselves well in the A-class in Worms," explains the dancing couple.

"As additional preparation, we hope to receive support from home on September 18th in Hausham."

On this Saturday morning from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m., a free trial training session for the rock'n'roll friends Hausham will take place in the school gym on Agatharieder Weg.

Children and young people from five years of age, divided into three age groups, can get a taste of the typical rock'n'roll training focuses on dance, gymnastics / trampoline and strength / coordination.

Get tournament atmosphere in Halle

The two dancers and their trainer Christian Gartmeier, former dancer of the German national team, will be in the hall as trainers.

"In order to give the children and young people as well as interested parents and guests an insight into the rock'n'roll sport, Franziska and I will do a dress rehearsal at the beginning of the trial training and present our tournament program", says Tobias Öttl, who is also the first member of the board the rock'n'roll friends Hausham.

"We are of course very happy about a few clapping spectators, so that we can get a tournament atmosphere in the hall a week before the German championship."
