But his NRW references annoyed some.
Lübeck - Union Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet is known to be the incumbent Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia. For many ARD viewers, however, the connection to his state became too colorful. In the election arena on Wednesday (September 15), the CDU politician had his solo appearance before the federal election and answered questions from voters. His frequent NRW references were a nuisance to one or the other in the social networks. But at some point it was too much for two spectators on site. They confronted him.
In conversation with the audience, Laschet was happy to refer to his experiences as Prime Minister and his agenda in North Rhine-Westphalia.
When a social worker asked about women's shelters, the candidate for chancellor remembered his post as minister for women in the “beautiful state of North Rhine-Westphalia”.
But the viewer didn't want to know anything about it.
Laschet's boasting offends ARD viewers: "It's not just about NRW!"
“If you become Chancellor, then it's not about NRW.
NRW is very well developed, I agree with you ”, she responded visibly annoyed.
However, it is about the nationwide legal right to a place in a women's shelter.
A young climate activist confronted Armin Laschet with his NRW finger pointing.
“In principle, you have praised yourself and North Rhine-Westphalia, but your climate policy has actually been a catastrophe in recent years.
It was marked by blatantly wrong decisions and scandals, ”said the 15-year-old.

But also Twitter users picked up the NRW ball and played it back.
TV satirist Oliver Kalkofe tweeted: "#NRW is great, if AL is chosen, all of Germany will be so beautiful".
A journalist asked: "The Laschet dilemma: He wants to shine with success and experience, but does the rest of the republic want to hear these stories of the Rhine and Ruhr all the time?"
