Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that the countries neighboring Afghanistan can help the Afghan people to overcome the crisis left by the Western campaign led by the United States.
Russia Today website quoted Lavrov as saying during today's meeting with his counterparts from China, Pakistan and Iran in the Tajik capital Dushanbe, "We believe that the countries that have direct borders with Afghanistan are able to influence the situation in the region as well as help the Afghan people to overcome the crisis arising from the war it launched since 20 years the United States with NATO.
"With the best of intentions, we can create the necessary external conditions for the Afghans to decide their own fate independently without posing any threat to neighboring countries through terrorism, drugs and others," Lavrov added.
Earlier today, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that the way Washington and its allies withdrew from Afghanistan was very shameful, noting that the West would not be able to deal with the disaster related to Afghanistan without the help of Russia.
