The Scientific Committee on Vaccine Preventable Diseases and the Scientific Committee on New Discoveries and Animal Infectious Diseases under the Centre for Health Protection held a joint meeting. Yesterday (16th) it was recommended that young people aged 12 to 17 in Hong Kong only need one shot of Fubitai vaccine.

The Education Bureau immediately updated the arrangements for the resumption of full-time face-to-face classes and non-academic extracurricular activities.

Under the new guidelines, 70% of faculty, staff and adult students received two injections for 14 days, and more than 70% of 12 to 17-year-old students who received a vaccine for 14 days can apply to resume full-time face-to-face instruction. Students should submit their applications based on their school age. Time is the limit.

As for schools that conduct half-day face-to-face classes, for example, individual students aged 12 to 17 have received at least one dose of vaccine for more than 14 days, or students over 18 years of age have completed the second dose of vaccine for more than 14 days.

The school can arrange for the relevant students to spend another half day of school, arranging non-academic extracurricular activities, such as music and sports activities.

The Secretary for Education, Yang Runxiong, said on social platforms that as of today, a total of 11 secondary schools in Hong Kong have applied to resume full-time face-to-face classes at individual levels.
