And there are more and more.
"We have an animal jam," says Kristina Berchtold, the home's spokeswoman.
Dogs and cats as corona victims - this is also worrying Nina Ruge.
As an ambassador for the #purinahilft campaign, the prominent animal lover and TV presenter Jochen Bendel draw attention to these catastrophic conditions.
Because of Corona, the pet market initially boomed.
"Because of lockdown and home office, many had more time and thoughtlessly bought an animal," says Berchtold.
"Some even got a dog to circumvent exit restrictions," adds Ruge.
Now many want to get rid of their animals again.
There is already an admission freeze for dogs and cats.
The waiting lists are long.
The shelter can only accommodate absolute emergencies.

"Many have bought chickens and roosters and taken over," says Berchtold.
There are a total of 13 roosters, 22 chickens, six ducks and other wild birds in the home.
Around 400 mice were given away from another household.

Dog Ernie is also an animal corona victim and is looking for a new home. The five-month-old found dog was allegedly abandoned. "That is irresponsible," the spokeswoman for the home rages. “People should think carefully about whether they can meet the needs of animals.” Nevertheless, Ruge thinks: “A life without animals is conceivable, but pointless - if you have enough time and money.” She is a great animal lover and has cats herself and dogs. In 2008 the Endlebucher Sennhund Lupo became their first four-legged family member. The Swiss mountain dog Simba joined them three years later. This was followed by dog Vroni.
And Ruge doesn't just own dogs.
Three years ago she rescued the cats Neko and Toka.
Their owners could no longer look after the animals.
Ruge also has five wild cats.

She hopes that the "corona victims" in the animal shelter will soon be placed.
“Go to the shelter!
You will find the perfect pet there, ”she advises and has another tip:“ Don't go by the look.
