Playground or fitness trail: a survey among the citizens of Kirchdorf should bring clarity

A fitness course or a classic children's playground?

This question occupied the Kirchdorfer municipal council in the first meeting after the summer break.

Kirchdorf

- That's what it's all about: In the Hirschbachstrasse development plan, a plot of land was designated as a public green area with a playground. According to the report, this requirement has not yet been implemented. The administration suggests building a so-called fitness course there, as there is actually no further need due to the large playground at the rectory and a playground at the town hall. For the most part, the building area has now been developed in such a way that Mayor Uwe Gerlsbeck (CSU) sees a clear and rapid need for action. At the meeting on Tuesday Gerlsbeck wanted to know the following from his councilors: “What do we want?” That is to say, financial resources would then have to be included in the upcoming budget.

Anton Pittner (CSU / FW) had already thought about it in advance and looked at some "things that would be possible".

His suggestion: ask the residents about their needs and wishes and plan further steps in the committee based on the results.

For Pittner, for example, a joint project of the municipality and citizens with their own contributions would be conceivable.

The property itself would be rather unsuitable for a fitness course, said Albert Steinberger (CSU / FW).

The city hall boss also shared this opinion, because he feared that outdoor fitness equipment could lead to nighttime disturbances.

Someone does pull-ups, rattles and drinks a “Bierle” on the side, says Gerlsbeck.

Elisabeth Hörand (CSU / FW), on the other hand, wanted a place that “can be experienced” - similar to the area in Helfenbrunn, which even families from Zolling and Palzing would use.

However, Hörand sees no need for a pure playground, also because Kirchdorf already has a "sinfully expensive playground".

Martin Heyne (Greens), however, referred to the development plan and that playgrounds should always be within easy reach of residents.

“I have strong sympathies for doing what is in a development plan,” Heyne emphasized.

City council wants to start survey personally

Pittner finally agreed to start a survey in person - by post and door-to-door. He would like to return to the committee with the collection of ideas in order to then discuss further approaches. For Helmut Wildgruber (FWG) it is also important that a certain point in time is marked out so that the costs can be included in the budget in good time. Gerlsbeck would also like to have the direct residents of the new development area interviewed, because "playground equipment does not always provide the greatest joy" - in terms of noise.

Since the fitness course was originally intended for older people, Heyne wanted to take up the topic again.

According to Gerlsbeck, however, a suitable place must first be found, similar to a multi-generational place.

Since no decision was required to poll the citizens, there was also no vote.
