Putin admits: Dozens of associates infected Corona
The Russian president announced today that many people close to him have been found positive about the virus.
Earlier this week, the Kremlin announced that Putin would go into solitary confinement after some of his associates fell ill in Corona, but it is now clear that the scale of the attacks was much larger than he thought.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today (Thursday) that dozens of people from his inner circle have been infected with the corona virus, so he has been in solitary confinement for several days.
Earlier this week, the Kremlin said Putin would go into solitary confinement after his associates contracted the virus, although the president was found negative in a test he performed and was vaccinated with two doses of the local "Sputnik 5" vaccine.
Today, however, it was revealed that the infection in his environment was more widespread than he thought.
"Cases of the virus have been identified in my immediate area, and not one case, not two, but several dozen. Now we have to go into isolation for a few days," he said in a video call at a conference of the
Tajikistan
Cooperative Organization
, in which Putin was to physically attend.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said those infected with the president's entourage were "mostly those who took part in securing the work and activities of the state leader."
He further said that none of the cases is serious.

The news of the extent of the outbreak in the Kremlin comes a day before the opening of Russia's parliamentary elections, which will last three days with the aim of limiting the spread of the virus.
So far huge efforts have been made to keep the Russian president healthy, and many foreign customs, journalists and senior officials have had to go into isolation before meeting with him.
Shortly before the announcement was made earlier this week about Putin's isolation, he met with Syrian President Bashar Assad and athletes returning from the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
Although Russia was the first country to start vaccinating its citizens against Corona, less than 30% of its population is fully vaccinated.
Authorities in Russia say 7.2 million people have been infected so far, and 195,835 have been confirmed dead.
