Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed today that the method of the West's withdrawal from Afghanistan was very shameful, noting that the West would not be able to deal with the disaster related to Afghanistan without the help of Russia.
Zakharova said on Channel One: “What happened from the collapse was because of them. It was the collective mistake of the West. We see shameful things in Afghanistan. We see what they did to the country and how they could not get out of there in an honorable manner, and how they let down tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands.” They put millions of citizens at risk and those who cooperated with them and who did not work for anyone but simply lived in their country.”
Zakharova added: The West realizes that without our country it cannot do anything about this great catastrophe, as it is not a problem but a disaster from all sides.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced earlier that the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan marked the end of the "era of military action" aimed at spreading Western democracy, noting that it could now turn to non-military methods.
