The plans for a skate park in Oberammergau are progressing.

Now a planning office is to show the way.

  • The municipality of Oberammergau is still looking for a location for a skate field.

  • Now a planning office is supposed to help with the search.

  • Mayor Andreas Rödl is sure that the municipality will find a place.

Oberammergau

- Certainly, a niche has been found. Not particularly big, not particularly comfortable. But at least something. The skaters in Oberammergau have set up a little on the road to the Wellenberg. A small ramp, a short flat rail, a compact curb, with little space around it to roll out. However, the skaters are unlikely to have found a home with it. The place near the swimming pool already looks a little sad, the devices are clearly showing signs of age and appear casually draped and a little lost. The skate park is not as unused as this place for skating appears, on the contrary. We are currently looking specifically for a planner, says Mayor Andreas Rödl (CSU). They want to go looking for a location with a planning office. The town hall chief already has a favorite - and it is hardly surprising.Rödl would like to see the skaters at the TSV sports field, this has been known for a long time. Not only because there is one or the other suitable spot there, but also because you wouldn't simply push the skaters to the quiet outskirts. Because Rödl doesn't want to “just push the scene away”.

Own department in TSV?

The skaters could possibly also be accommodated in a separate department of the TSV, a consideration that has been in the room for a while.

Then the skaters would be integrated into a larger whole, which could also relieve the community in terms of insurance.

And the skaters don't have to look for spots where they don't necessarily like to be seen or, better said, heard, as in previous years after they lost their skate space at the stepped parking lot of the piston lift.

When Rödl looks at the sports club and thinks that the currently rather loose group of skaters could organize itself, he believes that “synergies could arise”.

How much space a skater park needs is not that easy to say, even if Rödl is already looking at facilities in Ohlstadt and Garmisch-Partenkirchen for comparison purposes. And when it comes to costs, Rödl does not want to give any figures yet. It is not without reason that a planning office should check what would be possible for how much money and also what the funding situation is. The mayor knows that it will be a bit more expensive. The asphalt surface alone is in a five-digit range. “At least 30,000 euros”, so Rödl's statement last spring. When he found out, he too had to swallow first. But without a good reason, a sturdy and rollable base, it just doesn't work, the town hall chief knows that, as he used to be on the board himself. And: "You need a bit of space, ten by ten meters are quickly gone, ”he says.

Sobering tour

Theoretically, one could of course also think about an existing tarred place in the village.

Theoretically.

Because in practice it looks more than poor.

In summer Rödl drove “through the whole village” with a group of around 20 skaters.

In good spirits then.

In any case, Rödl thinks that a few gray areas can be seen on satellite images.

But when inspecting or driving on it, it was found that none of the tarred municipal areas are free, they "are all used", says Rödl.

As a result, the excursion was "quite sobering".

The skaters don't really have any great demands on the pitch, they “would be happy if they had a home,” says Rödl.

There is no need for a “murder halfpipe”.

The mayor could envision expanding and equipping the park, as long as an area has been determined, ie designing it “in a modular way”.

“You don't have to do everything at once,” says the town hall chief.

He sounds optimistic when he thinks about the sports area and says: "We'll find something".
