In the next week, the officer students of the 120th course leave the air base.
But they wanted to immortalize themselves on Fursty.

The initiative came from the young officer candidates, reports lecture hall director Lukas Schmalz.
In 2011 he took his oath of service at the Air Force Memorial.
But many soldiers did not know the unique place.
With their teacher for political education, Rufin Mellentin, and Captain Schmalz, they visited the memorial - and then came up with the idea of upgrading the site.
They bought and paid for the tree and designed a blackboard.
“It's our memorial,” says Schmalz.
"And it was important to them to leave a footprint."
