The Kochler municipal council discussed the garbage situation at Walchensee.

The community does not want to set up any more containers.

Tourism experts should now weigh up what impact it would have if you spread disgusting images on social media.

Kochel am See / Walchensee

- Images of overflowing rubbish bins or mountains of rubbish at dog toilets recently caused negative headlines from Walchensee again.

In addition, residents complained about feces from campers near the kindergarten.

The topic was now on the agenda of the Kochler municipal council on Tuesday.

Mayor Thomas Holz (CSU) initially reported on the recent incidents and criticized the various legacies.

“I don't understand how one can act so irresponsibly.

You destroy the beautiful landscape that you have just enjoyed. ”Holz thanked the employees of the building yard and the rangers for removing it every day.

The mayor said he understood the demand that more rubbish bins be put up. The fact that there are no containers at the lake can be traced back to an agreement with the district office. He has therefore currently asked the Lower Nature Conservation Authority for an opinion. This was now before the councils and the press at the meeting. According to the head of the department, Franz Steger, the decision was made well over 20 years ago to dismantle the waste bins in the recreational areas. At the same time, in coordination with the state building authority in Weilheim, the rubbish bins at the parking bays on the district and federal roads in the district were removed. The action was accompanied by a press campaign at the time. Signs with caricatures have been put up under the motto "Well recovered - and your waste?"that showed people on a picnic blanket amidst trash.

District Office: "Baskets only attract more rubbish"

The Lower Nature Conservation Authority does not want to deviate from this approach, writes Steger, "even if the educational effect has not yet occurred for some people looking for relaxation": "Experience has shown that isolated wastepaper baskets that are still set up are misused for all kinds of rubbish, swell over and only attract more rubbish." In the ongoing campaign “Conservation begins with you”, the topic of rubbish is therefore particularly addressed, Steger continues.

In addition, the district office takes care of the disposal of the waste.

For example, the rangers always have bags with them.

The garbage collected ends up in containers that are hidden, locked and inaccessible to the public, writes Steger.

The disposal costs are taken from the nature conservation budget or from the funds for wild garbage dumps in the area of waste law.

At the end of the letter it says: "We see ourselves as responsible for the agreements made with the forest and the municipalities on Walchensee and are happy to agree with you on an adjustment of the number of dumpsters to be set up and other measures." also obtain a statement from the AWU (waste management company of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district).

Dog toilets should have smaller throw-in containers

Holz reported that there has been less waste since the containers were dismantled.

You could see that in the past few years.

It is worth considering whether one should renew the signs with the caricature that were put up at the time.

“Some of them are no longer legible.” Nowadays the text could be “made snappier”.

In addition, continues Holz, "all channels" have to be used to sensitize the guests.

“Can't you show these garbage pictures on the Internet,” asked Markus Greiner (Young List).

Holz wants to pass the idea on.

"I'm not a marketing specialist," said the mayor and compared the idea with shock images on cigarette packs.

"I don't know whether this will also work in the tourist sector."

Because large dog toilets were also misused as trash cans in Walchensee, the community will now install smaller containers that only fit bags with dog waste through the opening, said Holz when asked by Frank Sommerschuh (FW).

Klaus Barthel (SPD) spectacular

Reinhard Dollrieß (FW), also from Walchensee, wanted to know how the community would solve the Wildbiesler situation at the playground.

Holz promised information on this in a closed meeting.

Ultimately, almost all local councils followed the mayor's suggestion not to leave the “Landratamt's line” (Holz).

On the other hand, Klaus Barthel voted “It will not work in the long run,” said the SPD politician.

The community manages the parking spaces and charges fees.

"Then the day trippers also expect garbage cans."
