The sewage company is preparing for the winter and 7 projects between implementation and certification

The projects of the Damascus Sanitation Company are distributed in several neighborhoods and areas to replace and rehabilitate the drainage lines, while some of them have completed, and the completion rate for the rest ranges between 20 and 70 percent, according to those in charge of them, in parallel with preparing for the winter season by isolating and wiping rainwater.

The company carried out 268 wiring missions with scavenging and suction mechanisms in Damascus and its countryside during the past week, according to a statement by its director, Bassam Asikareh, to a SANA representative, noting that, in cooperation with the Damascus governorate, the work of removing sewage sewage was completed in the tunnels of Al-Thawra, Al-Fayhaa, Al-Baytra, Bab Sharqi, Al-Abbasin, the Umayyads, and April 17.

Asikareh stated that the company's maintenance workshops also wiring and isolating 60 sewage lines within the city of Damascus and installing 12 concrete necks and reed covers, as well as exploratory excavations to treat sewage lines with a length of 20 meters during the past week.

As for the company’s projects, Asikarieh indicated that the main sewage line had been replaced in the eighth node, opposite the new Ministry of Transport building in the Aisha River area, with a length of 380 meters. Replacing the main sewage line in the Dummar project area, next to the Khalid Ibn Al-Walid Mosque, which is under implementation at a rate of 20 percent and with a length of 275 meters.

According to Asikareh, the project to replace sewage lines within the areas of Rukn al-Din al-Muhajireen is under implementation with a 70 percent length of 500 meters, and a project to replace sewage lines in the new Dummar al-Sham and Mezzeh areas is under implementation with a completion rate of 20 percent and a length of 450 meters.

Asakiya indicated that there are four projects under ratification procedures, worth 200 million pounds, distributed in Jobar, Qaboun, Barzeh and Al-Shaghour, the second project in the Al-Hussainiya suburb, the third in Al-Qadam Al-Midan, Kafr Sousa, and the fourth in the old Sarouja canals of Damascus.

Askariya called on citizens not to raise the hoods, especially in high areas such as Rukn Al-Din, Mezzeh 86 and Esh Al-Warour, when there is a slowdown in the drainage, because lifting them leads to the entry of dust and waste into the sewage channels and their complete closure, thus exacerbating the problem.
