Dießen - Everyone agrees that the holiday program, organized at short notice by the “Freie Kunstanstalt eV” on the site of the former “Drei Rosen” inn, was a complete success: kids and young people, educators and artists, parents and the municipal council. Dießen - Everyone agrees that the holiday program, organized at short notice by the “Freie Kunstanstalt eV” on the site of the former “Drei Rosen” inn, was a complete success: kids and young people, educators and artists, parents and the municipal council.

For the finale of the three-week series of events, Councilors Michael Lutzeier, Miriam Anton, Michael Hofmann, Volker Bippus and Vice-Mayor Roland Kratzer came to the “Three Roses” in Schützenstrasse.

For them it was not just about the presentation and demonstration of the created artistic work, but also about the suitability of the former inn for other events of this kind. Because the association "Freie Kunstanstalt" has now drawn up a concept for a possible temporary use until the demolition excavators arrive.

As reported, the market town bought the 1,700 square meter area with the inn for around 1.5 million euros in order to build living space for people from Dießen at socially acceptable prices. It is hoped that an architectural competition will provide suggestions. Since a few more years will pass before construction begins, according to the initiators of the art institute, the former inn, including the hall and open spaces, are ideal as a cultural center and event location.

The aim of the Freie Kunstanstalt is to expand the cultural offerings of Diessen and to create added value for citizens and the region.

Steff Sanktjohanser, Jörg Kranzfelder and their team want to achieve this by setting up and operating a cultural center.

According to the motto “culture for everyone” they want to create a space for encounters, exchange, music, art, culture and education.

With events, workshops and courses in studios, workshops or band rooms, a platform for the exchange between artists, painters, musicians, writers and culturally enthusiastic citizens is to be created.

Jörg Kranzfelder emphasized that the Freie Kunstanstalt does not want to act as the sole user of the rooms.

A joint use of clubs, the adult education center, the music school or theater groups is sought.

Opportunity without risk

To this end, the Freie Kunstanstalt would like to set up a culture office that will coordinate with the market community, associations and institutions as well as network with the locality. Steff Sanktjohanser: “After the pandemic, the cultural revitalization of the place is more important than ever. Since the hall and rooms in the Drei Rosen are empty anyway, the joint interim use is a great opportunity without great risks. We connect people of all generations, different social classes, interests, associations and organizations with one another. ”The location of the former inn is ideal as a meeting point for generations. In the heart of Dießen, close to retirement homes and therefore within walking distance for many citizens, this is an ideal place for encounters.

The local councils took good note of the detailed nine-page 'wish list' of the Freie Kunstanstalt, but referred to one of the next meetings, at which a possible interim use is then on the agenda.

Vice-Mayor Roland Kratzer emphasized that fire protection, escape routes, toilets etc. still have to be checked and upgraded anyway.

The tavern hall has already been opened for the holiday program as an exception, because when it rained the space around the specially constructed boy scout yurt was too soft.

First results

At the finale of the holiday program, the supervising artists and creators showed particularly successful work by the more than 150 kids and young people who took part in the twelve workshops. Director Antonia Braovac presented a short film, industrial designer Sebastian Quiroz stop-motion films and 3-D prints, textile designer Maria Mayer fabric prints and batik works, glass painter Anna Riedl Glaskunstwerke, video artist Vanessa Hafenbrädl light art and educator Jakob Kettler spray artworks. Over coffee and homemade cake, parents and local councilors marveled at how the artistic talents of the youngsters were awakened under professional guidance.
