The
traffic tickets
are
more expensive 35% in the city
.
Unlike what had happened last year, when the increases were postponed amid restrictions to try to contain the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, this time the deadlines were met and the
semi-annual increase stipulated by law
is already applied
.
Therefore, the penalty for
bad parking costs $ 5,300
, while running a red light has
penalties ranging from $ 15,900 to $ 79,500.
With this adjustment, the value of the fines is recovered after almost a year and a half without increases.
And it adds
a 147% increase over the value of December last year.
In August 2019, in a scenario of
elections and economic crisis
, the Buenos Aires government had skipped the August shift, so the fixed unit
remained at $ 21.40
, a value awarded in January of that year. Nor was the update for March and August 2020, when activities were paralyzed by quarantines and restrictions imposed to try to contain the effects of the pandemic.
For this reason, in January of this year a rise of 82.5% was applied.
Is that the value of the
fixed units
, the parameter used to establish the cost of fines, is calculated based on half the price of a liter of premium gasoline at the headquarters of the Automóvil Club Argentino (ACA).
So
each fixed unit was set at $ 53 from last month.
The most common offense among locals is still the
wrong parking
, which now costs
$ 5,300.
There are times when the fine must be added to the value of the haulage, if the tow truck takes the car: it costs
$ 4,350
.
In the quarantine, with traffic restricted and the street emptier, speeding fouls were also common.
According to official figures, during 2020 57% of accidents with fatalities
were due to speeding
, 32% due to crossing with a red light and 21% with the presence of alcohol or drugs in the driver.
With the August adjustment, the fines for
exceeding the maximum allowed
will go to $ 7,950 in case of doing it at up to 20km / h on streets or avenues or up to 40 km / h on expressways.
If it goes faster than those limits, the value amounts to $ 13,250.
And if the speeding exceeds 150 km / h, the value to pay can be $ 212,000.
As for running red lights, the cost of the violation varies between $ 15,900 and $ 79,500 depending on the severity of the event.
While the
positive breathalyzer
is a contravention for which fines of $ 7,950 to $ 53,000 are contemplated.
On the other hand,
refusing a breathalyzer test
carries a penalty of $ 15,900.
The penalty for bad parking is now $ 5,300.
If the tow truck also took the car, you have to add $ 4,350 for the hauling.
Another piece of accident reports shows that
the majority of road incidents occur at corners and crossroads
.
And pedestrians are the second most affected group among the actors of the Buenos Aires traffic.
In this sense, another of the most common infractions also happens, which has to do with not respecting the priority of passage.
The fine is among those with the lowest values: $ 5,300.
What happens in Province
In the Province of Buenos Aires the value of the
fixed unit
(UF) for September and October is the same as for the previous months, since the decision was made to
extend it and keep it at $ 91.
It is also established according to the price of the highest octane gasoline in the city of
La Plata
, but in this case it is the
equivalent of one liter.
What varies with respect to the City is the
number of fixed units
that are charged to each fine.
In this way,
bad parking
is sanctioned with a fine of 50 UF to 100 UF, between $ 4,550 and $ 9,100, according to the severity of the offense.
As for
driving under the influence of alcohol or passing a red light
, in the Province they have a penalty of between $ 27,300 (300 UF) and $ 91,000 (1,000 UF).
Where to consult
In the City, the query to find out if a driver or a vehicle has infractions can be done through the page of the Buenos Aires Government: www.buenosaires.gob.ar/consultas/infracciones.
There you can also access the voluntary payment with a discount or the option of
requesting a shift with a driver.
For its part, the Province also offers the possibility of online consultation, through www.infraccionesba.gba.gob.ar.
