Voting began today in the Russian State Duma elections in the Far Eastern regions of Russia, which is expected to last 3 days until the evening of Sunday, September 19.
The Russia Today website reported that polling stations opened in Kamchatka and Chukotka Autonomous Districts at eight in the morning local time in these regions.
In many regions, voters will also elect local parliaments, regional presidents, and municipal councils.
The head of the Russian Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, said that during these elections, remote electronic voting will be used for the first time on a large scale, and strict security measures have been taken to prevent the Corona virus, with 92 percent of the members of local electoral commissions in Russia vaccinated.
For its part, the Russian Central Election Commission indicated that about 150,000 Russian citizens voted during the early voting that began on September 3 for Russians living abroad.
Fourteen parties are competing for the 450 seats in the Russian State Duma.
