For a weekend there are sculptures to be admired in the Wittelsbacher Saal
Wartenberg - The sculptor and musician Ifeanyi Okolo will exhibit his sculptures in the Wittelsbacher Saal in Wartenberg on the weekend from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th September.
His woodwork, his large and small sculptures deal with life, with people and with human relationships. “Hug” is a central theme and “family” is a recurring motif in Ifeanyi Okolo's art. The artist with Nigerian roots prefers to work with wood, but also with clay and other materials such as paper and paper mache. Because before the work of art comes the observation of the environment, then the sketch, usually a miniature model, and only then the work of art to be created.
Ifeanyi Okolo grew up in southeastern Nigeria. From 1986 to 1991 he studied fine and applied arts with a focus on sculpture in Enugu, a city about 100 kilometers from his parents' house, where he grew up with six siblings. He was very interested in European culture and the development of European styles over the centuries. A visit to the European countries, however, had to wait until the course was finished. It wasn't until 1996 that he set out on the big journey and lived in Berlin for four years before discovering Bavaria for himself. As a freelance sculptor, he travels a lot, leads workshops and designs exhibitions.
But music is also his job.
He gives drum courses and concerts.
He is strongly influenced by the musical styles of West Africa.
The artist feels at home in the Wittelsbacher Saal.
Here he has given drum courses for children and adults several times.
The exhibition starts on Friday, September 17th at 7 p.m.
The 3G rule must be observed when visiting.
The exhibition is open on Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Entry is free and the artist will be present.
Place of exhibition: Old School, Nikolaibergstrasse 8, Wittelsbacher Saal in Wartenberg.
