The appointment of Guy Goodes as the new coach of the Israeli national team, in place of Oded Katash, continues to employ Israeli basketball.
One of the most prominent factors in the decision is Amos Frishman, chairman of the professional committee of the basketball association.
"Guy has a huge advantage, because he was a player in the Israeli team. He was in these positions as a player and besides, as a coach, he went through everything that needs to go through in his career - he was in top teams, worked as an assistant coach of senior coaches, passed all classes, and all things. The goddess stood to his credit when we decided to choose him, "Frishman explained in a conversation on the Final Food podcast.

Frishman also referred to the other candidate on the lists: "Ariel Beit Halachmi is a worthy coach who has achieved great things, and it is possible that one day he will also be appointed to the team, but this time we chose Goodes."
Frishman also talked about the process that takes place in the union when choosing a national coach, and of course referred to the breakup of Katsch, which was rumored to be caused by Katsch's lawsuit against the union's leaders last year, on the issue of national team coaches.

“Over the years, those who elect the coach are the chairman of the professional committee, the chairman of the union and the general manager of the union subject to the approval of the committee, and that is also what it was now. This time we also included Pini Gershon (the professional manager of the young teams; YM) in the meetings, because we wanted to hear his views on the candidates, "Frishman said, adding:" I do not address the question of why Katsh did not continue. I expressed my opinion that he deserves to continue. "But I'm not alone in making the decisions and there are more people in the system. In the end we decided that two terms is something respectable, and now we are handing over the reins to Goodes, who is an equally good coach.
