A woman discovers that the gynecologist who cared for her for nine years is her biological father

2021-09-17T12:58:08.956Z

Morgan Hellquist became suspicious of his doctor for a strange attitude he had in a routine visit. A month later, a DNA confirmed his fear. And it would not be the only one: it would be "a serial sperm donor."

For nine years Morgan Hellquist went to the clinic of her gynecologist, named Morris Wortman, in Rochester, New York, for tests and procedures without knowing that he

was actually her biological father

Hellquist never knew who his father was because he was born in 1985 after artificial insemination, according to what he recounted in a complaint filed in court last weekend, The Washington Post reported.

The procedure was done by Wortman himself, who also cared for his mother.

The family always thought that the sperm had been donated by a medical student.

Hellquist became suspicious of the doctor during a visit in April due to a strange attitude he had.

The gynecologist, who had known her since she was a child, asked her to remove her mask

and called his wife to see the physical resemblance they had

, according to the lawsuit cited by the media.

"You are a good girl, really a good girl," he told her.

This fact led Hellquist to discover that he was her biological father and later, that she was possibly not the only one in that situation.

The woman located at least six other people who would be children of the doctor, who could be

"a serial sperm donor

.

Between late 1983 and January 1985,

Wortman charged Hellquist's mother $ 50 for each insemination attempt

, the Daily Mail reported.

After the appointment in April,

the young woman had a DNA test

that revealed that she was Wortman's biological daughter, says the lawsuit filed in the Monroe Supreme Court against the gynecologist and the Rochester Center for Menstrual Disorders, where he practiced .

Fraud, medical negligence, lack of informed consent, assault and emotional consequences, are some of the crimes that are accused.

"

(She) was in shock and disbelief that he would continue (to treat her) as his gynecologist

if she was his biological daughter," the lawsuit relates.

According to the Daily Mail,

every time Hellquist found a new half brother

, "he experienced anxiety, migraines, shock and confusion, despair, stress and other physical manifestations upon learning that his father had been a serial sperm donor."

Hellquist's mother consulted the doctor after her husband, Gary Levey, was hit by a drunk driver and paralyzed from the waist down.

When she was a child, her parents told her how she had been conceived, so in high school she

tried to find out who her biological father was

but Wortman assured her that he did not have the medical records from that time.

At age 26, she again sought the doctor's help when she suffered menstrual bleeding.

Wortman then became her gynecologist and, from 2012 to 2021, performed vaginal exams and other procedures.

Hellquist demands financial compensation for damages.

The suffering caused by her father and doctor is compared, according to the lawsuit, to that "experienced by survivors of sexual abuse and incest."

Wortman did not respond to a request for comment from The Washington Post or the Daily Mail.
