The district has had its schools checked.

Where do we need mobile air filters?

The report is now available, but it has promptly been criticized.

District

- The result was expected: The appraiser commissioned by the district office advises mobile air purification devices in district schools.

But not everyone trusts the expertise of the specialist.

Prof. Dr.

Christian Kähler from the Bundeswehr University in Neubiberg is an advocate of air purifiers.

District councilor Alexander Greulich (SPD), for example, would have liked a “more neutral expert”.

As early as the summer, Ismaning's mayor complained about too many studies “with a certain degree of manufacturer proximity”.

He considers the knowledge that a proven “advocate of air purification devices” provided to be of limited use: “Vaccines for children will soon be available,” said Greulich.

Due to the currently excessive delivery times for mobile air purifiers, the SPD district council is wondering whether the vaccine will ultimately be there earlier than the devices that have been ordered for dearly money.

And if it does: "Air purifiers do not spare us the need to ventilate in winter."

Order air filter, delivery date uncertain

In July, the parliamentary groups in the district council agreed to optimize the fixed ventilation systems in classrooms and specialist rooms of the five district schools with regard to the level of air exchange.

For classrooms and specialist rooms with only manual ventilation, the district administration commissioned a planning office to examine the use of mobile air purifiers to determine whether an added value could be achieved compared to previous infection prevention measures.

The report by Prof. Kähler has been available to the District Office since mid-August.

The findings of the expert are available to the municipalities and special purpose associations.

The district bears the costs for location-specific further examinations, finances municipalities and cities if necessary the recommended devices.

At the meeting of the district school committee, District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) expressed his hope that the mobile air purifier would be on hand in autumn.

According to Göbel, 96 rooms in the district's own schools are to be equipped with one or more air purifiers.

With an order value of 277,000 euros, however, the devices must be put out to tender across Europe.

It is therefore not clear whether the systems will actually be delivered in autumn.

These days, cities and municipalities nationwide are trying to get Covid filters for schools and daycare centers.

The district office itself is therefore not in a position to limit delivery times.
