Every step, every meter counts in the great Unicef hiking campaign.

And you, dear readers, can be there, download the most beautiful hiking routes for free via app and do something good for children in need yourself.

During her first tour for the project, she told

how

WALK4UNICEF

works and why Elke Büdenbender, wife of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier,

puts on

her hiking boots herself.

She is the first volunteer from Unicef Germany and has been the patron of the Children's Fund since 2017. It goes without saying that Elke Büdenbender is also one of the first to lace up the hiking boots for the WALK4UNICEF project. In Berlin together with many other volunteers. And with a request to the readers of our newspaper: “Dear readers of tz and Münchner Merkur and its home newspapers, with the hiking campaign everyone can - in addition to contributing to their own fitness - provide important help for children in need. For us, clean drinking water is great refreshment when hiking - in drought regions and crisis areas, many people lack it for everyday survival.

Every WALK4UNICEF donation helps children stay healthy and saves lives - hiking is twice as good.

“The appeal of the Federal President's wife is already bearing its first fruits.

So the Unicef working group in Munich moves to the Hirschberg.

Fellow campaigners are still very welcome here (info@muenchen.unicef.de).

The students at Campus M University have also registered and are starting a wine hike around Munich.

“Social projects are part of our studies.

In this way, we promote the training of young academic personalities who take on social responsibility, ”explains Professor Heinrich Wiedemann, head of the study centers in Munich and Nuremberg.

Actor and Unicef godfather Kai Schumann has already been on tour with Unicef helpers.

We get tours from Brandenburg to Ibiza.

We are all the more curious about the routes of the readers and the amount of kilometers run. ”It doesn't matter how long and with whom you hike.

Everyone according to their possibilities.

This also applies to donations.

"Every cent counts and helps the children in need," says Claudia Berger.

As a small thank you, Unicef will give all participants blue shoelaces after registration.

The makers of the hiking app Komoot provide an extra treat with their own platform for our newspaper's hiking campaign, including free access to the Munich region and the Oberland (see below).

Now Germany's First Lady is hoping for many readers who get started now.

Elke Büdenbender: "So, let's go, hike with us!"
