In 2012, the urban road network was recorded and assessed.

Now the approximately 280 kilometers have been examined again.

Freising

- The result, as Andreas Großmann from Lehmann + Partner presented to the planning committee: Freising's streets are in good condition, Freising is in a very good position - also compared to other municipalities in Bavaria.

The money for road maintenance and expansion has been used well and a lot has been achieved.

The recommendation: keep it up!

The roads were driven with the latest technology in August 2020 and then divided into various condition classes, taking into account main and secondary roads.

The recommendations

Only three percent of the roads are marked with the warning color red - urgent need for action - most of the roads and paths are green, which means that they are in good to very good condition.

The investigation revealed the color yellow on almost a third of the streets, which suggests that measures will be necessary within the next six to eight years.

recommendations

On the basis of these results, the Lehmann + Partner office has also formulated recommendations for action that should serve as a guideline for the civil engineering administration, whereby, as Großmann emphasized, each measure still has to be checked on a case-by-case basis.

If, according to one of the scenarios developed for the next ten years, no road maintenance measures were taken by 2031, around seven percent of the roads would be classified in the red category in 2031.

Admittedly, this is not an option for the city administration and councilors.

Großmann's recommendation was to keep the previous annual budget of 4.7 million euros for road maintenance.

Then there would be no red sections in the urban transport network as early as 2023.

The discussion

And then there was the scenario that assumes an annual budget of eight million euros per year, but which, according to Großmann, is merely a “nice to have”. Emilia Kirner (ÖDP) emphasized that it is of course important to keep the roads in a tidy and good condition. But one shouldn't forget that the money “can also be used for something else”, for example to improve the cycle paths and to strengthen local public transport. Manfred Drobny (Greens) could only confirm this statement. He also referred to Großmann's statement that a great deal of road damage was caused by “patchwork”, ie when lines were subsequently laid. Drobny's recommendation: In future, lay even more conduits for road construction work. Hans Hölzl (FSM) concluded: "The lecture proves us right, that we have done well in recent years. ”The report was unanimously acknowledged in the planning committee.
