After extensive consultation, the Jetzendorf municipal council refused to purchase mobile air purification devices for primary schools.

After extensive consultation, the Jetzendorf municipal council refused to purchase mobile air purification devices for primary schools.

Jetzendorf - The local parliament has unanimously followed the recommendation of the school management.

As the mayor Manfred Betzin, who is not party to the party, emphasized that if she did, the rector Ulrike Schmucker could only have been enthusiastic about air purification devices above the ceiling, which are not eligible for funding.

"But it's not about the costs here," said the mayor, who does not speak well of big politics.

The school management announced that ventilation of the classrooms via the existing windows was sufficient and that ventilation could not be dispensed with even with the use of mobile air purification devices.

Nevertheless, the municipal administration together with the neighboring municipality of Gerolsbach obtained offers for mobile air purification devices.

In the Jetzendorf elementary school, there are ten such devices.

For this, 60,710 euros (including maintenance calculated over four years) would have to be spent.

Jetzendorf could receive 19,250 euros in state funding, so that the community would have to face total costs of 41,460 euros.

“We didn't want to be idle to protect students and teachers,” emphasized Betzin, who at the same time pointed out that his inquiry about the advantages and disadvantages of mobile air purification devices from the Bavarian Ministry of Culture went unanswered.

“Such fans would not secure a single day of classroom teaching.

Even today there is no general hygiene plan, clear statements are missing.

Because such fans are not really useful, the Reichertshausen school association has also refused to purchase such devices, ”said Betzin's observations.

With the words “There is a healthy dose of populism”, the community chief criticized the state government's lack of plan and said with a view to the neighboring communities: “If we do not buy these devices, we are not the wrong-way drivers”.

The question from local councilor Ruppert Leimberger (party independent), whether the parents had already made demands for air purification devices, was answered with a clear “no”.

Andrè Klimsch from the Greens made it clear that the parents are burning on the nails that face-to-face lessons are not to be dispensed with.

"What about the ventilation in the kindergartens?", Simon Fottner (non-party) wanted to know from the mayor.

Here, the opinion of the heads is comparable to that of the school management, assured Betzin.

Fottner also asked the extent to which the municipal council could be held liable for damage to health if the purchase of air purification devices was not purchased.

Betzin has no concerns "because we have adequate ventilation through the windows".

Without a dissenting vote, the municipal councils rejected the application.
