Covid-19 will not go away and we will all have to get vaccinated 0:55
(CNN Spanish) -
Tourists who are visiting Panama may receive the AstraZeneca vaccine against covid-19 after authorization from the Cabinet Council to the country's Ministry of Health for these purposes.
The initiative aims to attract tourists to the country who seek the application of the doses, according to a statement from the Presidency of Panama.
The vaccination would be done through the Vacutur Panama project, designed for the reactivation of the tourism sector, with the accommodation of tourists for a minimum of two nights for each dose in hotels registered by the Tourism Authority.
The Ministry of Health and the Tourism Authority have not responded to questions from CNN about details of the plan or the date when this project would begin to be implemented.
For now, the National Chamber of Tourism considers that it is an opportunity to achieve the reactivation of that industry and thus increase the arrival of international travelers.
