In its most recent meeting, the Altenstadt municipal council decided not to buy any ventilation systems for the premises of the local elementary school.
The committee around Mayor Andreas Kögl did not make it easy with this decision.
Altenstadt
- But the results of the assessment of the classrooms by an expert made it clear: The expensive ventilation systems are not necessary in the Altenstadt primary school.
Because the expert involved has divided the performance of the classrooms in the Altenstadt elementary school and the categorization according to the recommendation of the Federal Environment Agency into three categories from an indoor hygiene point of view. Rooms with good ventilation (ventilation system and / or windows can be opened wide) belong to category one. Rooms with limited ventilation options (no technical room system, windows can only be tilted) are assigned to category two. Non-ventilated rooms - category three.
After a detailed assessment of the primary school rooms, the expert's recommendation is: In category one rooms, the use of mobile air purification devices is not necessary if air exchange is ensured either through regular shock and cross ventilation or through ventilation and air conditioning systems.
All the premises of the Altenstadt primary school were assessed by the expert.
The positive result: the eight classrooms and the teachers' room as well as the two handicraft rooms and the workroom are assigned to category one and therefore do not require any change.
Only the music room belongs to category two.
However, this is not a problem, because the two ventilation systems bought for test purposes are used there.
