Russia, China, Iran and Pakistan have expressed their joint support for settlement, reconciliation and the establishment of security and stability in Afghanistan, according to what the Russian Foreign Ministry announced.
The TASS news agency quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement that the Russian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov, Chinese Wang Yi, Iranian Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Pakistani Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated in particular the importance of achieving reconciliation in Afghanistan and put forward approaches on issues of preparing the ground for establishing peace, security and stability in Afghanistan.
This came during a meeting of foreign ministers of the four countries yesterday on the sidelines of the summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Collective Security Treaty Organization in the Tajik capital Dushanbe.
The Chinese foreign minister explained that the four ministers agreed to intensify contacts on Afghanistan, and said, "It is necessary for the four countries to strengthen communication and coordination, issue unanimous voices, exert positive influence and play a constructive role for the stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan."
