The "Athlete Selection Policy and Guidelines" states that the selection process for athletes in the future will be divided into two levels, nominated by the National Sports Association, and confirmed by the Hong Kong Association Selection Committee.
All sports associations must provide a fair, impartial and transparent selection and appeal mechanism for each athlete. The content must be approved by the top management of the association and published on the website so that the public can check it within a reasonable time before the selection process.
When formulating the selection mechanism, the selection method, criteria, competition schedule and minimum requirements should also be clearly stated on the website.
When the association nominates athletes and staff to the Hong Kong Association, it must also submit the list of members of the selection committee and appeal committee, the training of the nominated athletes, the competition plan and expected results, etc., and it must also prove that the athletes are notified of all the contents of the mechanism through formal channels in advance.
In the past 4 years, you will automatically qualify for the top eight international competitions or qualify for the Olympics.
Entering the second stage of selection, the selection committee of the Hong Kong Association International Sports Games is responsible for nominating suitable representatives of the National Sports Association as members.
According to the selection criteria established by the committee, in terms of objective criteria, if the nominated athlete has achieved excellent results in past events, such as the World Championships, Asian Championships, Asian Games, East Asian Games, National Games, and World Universiade in the past 4 years, they have achieved the top 8 Names, or qualifications for the Olympics, will automatically pass the selection and get the qualifications for the competition.

If an athlete fails in the general selection, they can submit a review to the Hong Kong Association; if they fail in the second stage of selection, they can also appeal.
Each appeal case is required to pay a fee of $5,000, which will be refunded if the appeal is successful.
The relevant "Guidelines" are reviewed at least once every four years.
