4,863 people were diagnosed in Corona in the last day, which is 5.6% of the 89,610 tests performed - the Ministry of Health updated tonight (Saturday).

It was also updated that the number of critically ill patients has risen sharply, and currently stands at 717 people, including 195 respirators.

The data comes in the wake of a decision by experts from the US Food and Drug Administration at night to recommend vaccinating in the third dose against the virus only those aged 65 and over, as well as at-risk populations, including medical and teaching staff.

The vote came after experts voted against a recommendation to give the booster to the entire population over the age of 16.

In Israel, 3,031,423 people have already been vaccinated in the third dose, after the three million mark was crossed yesterday.
