The Regens Wagner Foundation said goodbye to the long-time director of the center in Erlkam - and welcomed her successor in office.

Tears flowed at the event in the parish church of St. Josef.

But there was also reason to laugh: shoes amused the 80 or so guests present.

The topic of “shoes” ran like a red thread through the ceremony on the occasion of the farewell to Kathrin Seiler, who had run the facility for the disabled in Erlkam for eleven years. No wonder, after all, the 41-year-old is known as a friend of good footwear. So the spiritual director of Regens Wagner, Pastor Rainer Remmele, metaphorically decorated his speech on Thursday with shoes: "Different shoes are needed in every life situation," he said. “As a general manager, you have to put on a lot of shoes over and over again. Nevertheless, you must never stop going barefoot every now and then in order to remain sensitive and vulnerable. ”The words he addressed to Seiler's successor, Stefan Glaser, caused laughter:“ You applied for the shoes of the general manager. Do not put on your shoes that you have to put on Ms. Seiler's shoes."

As reported, Seiler is giving up her job for private reasons - she is moving to another district and will head a Caritas association there. The farewell in St. Josef was very emotional. One resident burst into tears during her speech and said: “If the people there are not so nice, come back!” Seiler's employees handed her a picture - a portrait of Seiler drawn in pencil. Her colleagues - the heads of Regens-Wagner facilities at other locations - also worked hard and sang: “Kathrin, you are leaving us now. Everything, everything goes over, no shouting helps! "

One of the speakers was the chairwoman of the foundation board, Gerda Friedel.

The provincial superior of the Dillingen Franciscan Sisters took the opportunity to demonstrate to the politicians present her important role in inclusion at the local level.

Among other things, Hausham's mayor Jens Zangenfeind (FWG) was present in his function as deputy district administrator.

Referring to Remmele's speech, he noted with a wink that he was glad that he had put on new shoes today.

District councilor Elisabeth Janner (Greens) thanked the outgoing Seiler for her commitment: "I experienced the colorful life in the houses of Regens Wagner and I am grateful for these living spaces that were designed by Ms. Seiler and her employees."

As reported, Stefan Glaser succeeds Seiler.

Since 2010 he has been the division manager of Regens Wagner's open aids in Miesbach.

Seiler presented him with a special gift: heeled shoes.

“As an early warning system for residents,” she explained.

You have to know that the residents of the facility always recognized the approach of their manager by the clacking of their shoes.

In his speech Glaser said: “At Regens Wagner people walk part of their way together.

For you, dear Kathrin, this piece is now over.

We wish you all the best in your new life. "
