The municipal police assures that an operation could not be established to dissolve the crowd because it was not warned by the Complutense

Around 25,000 young people, according to police data, filled the University City of Madrid at dawn this Saturday to celebrate the start of the course with a macro-bottle.

The images of the concentration, with hardly any masks or safety distance, circulated throughout this Saturday on social networks.

In them, there were thousands of attendees to the bottle in the vicinity of faculties such as Philology or Law of the Complutense.

In addition, the platforms of the nearby subway station were also full of young people without any safe distance, who sang to the beat, from one platform to another, while waiting for the last train on the line, which closes at half past one. am.

The municipal police justified this Saturday that the concentration was not dissolved in that, without a special operation prepared in advance, dissolving the crowd was "an almost impossible task," according to a spokesman. For this reason, the agents limited themselves to checking that there were no incidents and to guarding the subway stations.

The agents showed up around eleven o'clock on Friday night, when they could no longer do anything to break up the macro-party. But, added the spokesman, his presence was "dissuasive", so many of the attendees left. "The absence of means of transportation at that time made it very slow," he said. Attendees of the open-air party began arriving at the university facilities late Friday afternoon, with the latter leaving the venue at seven in the morning. The subway doesn't open until six.

"From the university at no time was it notified, nor was prior information offered," the police also justified in a statement.

After eleven o'clock at night, the text continues, “a copy is received via

email

of an email sent to the Government Delegation, in two administrative mailboxes (not operational) of the Municipal Police, with thousands of people already in the area.

It seems that the call was by WhatsApp and that university parties were being held ”.

The Samur treated 11 young people for alcohol poisoning

A spokesman for the Government Delegation denied that they had been notified.

"There were members of the National Police in the area, but they can only act if there is a problem of disturbances and the Madrid Police request it, and that did not happen," he said.

The Samur was also present in the vicinity on a preventive basis, and treated 11 young people with alcohol poisoning, none of them serious.

A spokeswoman for the Complutense assured that the institution is making a "damage assessment" and that they hope to be able to comment on what happened on Monday.

In a tweet with a GIF with the garbage that has been left in the campus, the university called on students to be responsible: “Is this the image we want to give of the university?

Stopping these attitudes is everyone's responsibility ”.

This is how the Ciudad Universitaria de Madrid woke up today.

In addition, the Dean of Law, the faculty most affected, announced that he will denounce "the regrettable vandalism events" in reference to the damage suffered in the "university public heritage" and called what happened "intolerable irresponsibility", which, he added, is not representative of the students of his center.

Carmen, a university worker who prefers not to be identified, conveyed the concern that has spread among the campus staff: “I know that almost all of us are vaccinated, but it is not pleasant to think that on Monday we will share space, after seeing those images ”. The 14-day cumulative incidence of cases in the region is on the decline, but is higher than the national average. According to the latest epidemiological report, the region accumulates 100.72 positives per 100,000 inhabitants. <NO1>, and the second most affected group is between 12 and 19 years of age.

The worker also showed her concern about what is seen in the images.

“The roof on which many of those seen in the videos are on is the roof of the María Zambrano library, which is far from prepared to support so much weight.

I don't want to start comparing it with other cases, but if there were to be some kind of evacuation from there, it would be impossible, ”he stressed.

This university worker assures that it is impossible that those responsible for the Complutense did not know the call for applications through networks and messaging applications, because the university employees had heard rumors and, she explained, they even closed the doors of some facilities before the time usual to avoid problems.

Teachers of the Complutense have lamented the macro-bottle, when the university has been working for so long on the protocols to facilitate a return to face-to-face classes.

This week, the Red Cross installed points in several Madrid campuses so that students who lag behind could go to get immunized without an appointment.

A university professor, Jesús Pérez Gil, shared in his networks a photo of the campus after the passage of the young bottlers: an infinite sea of plastic bags, garbage and bottles that stretched across the campus.

And then there is the bleak landscape after the "battle."

Not for recurring year after year you have to forget to remember it to make you reconsider.
