Hours after the appointment of the new members of the National Cabinet in the midst of the political crisis unleashed in the Government by the electoral defeat in the PASO, the collective of Argentine Actresses repudiated the appointment of Juan Manzur as chief of ministers and questioned the absence of women.
"From Actrices Argentinas we
express our rejection of the appointment of Juan Manzur
as Chief of Ministers of the Nation, a cabinet where gender inequality stands out," begins the harsh statement that the group released along with a video in which it points harshly against the governor of Tucumán for his stance against abortion.
In the text, they define Manzur as an "
enemy of women, diversities and children
" and maintain that he is "known for his anti-rights stances and promoter of his province being declared 'pro-life'".
In the document, they also give an account of cases in Tucumán such as that of an 11-year-old girl who was raped and who was not allowed to perform an abortion.
"This list of cases (all in Tucumán, Manzur territory and which is also a declared enemy of women, diversities and children):
should embarrass those who govern us and call themselves 'feminists
'", they pointed out.

After demanding "the State to guarantee the rights conquered by women and diversities," they closed with a direct message to President Alberto Fernández: "With decisions like this,
we are far from having finished with the Patriarchy, Mr. President
."
The harsh statement from Actrices Argentinas was released minutes after the meeting led by the President in La Rioja and in which Manzur, as the new Chief of Cabinet, was one of the main actors.
The appointment of the Tucuman governor had already generated tension within the Cabinet.
Is that the Minister of Women, Gender and Diversity, Elizabeth Gómez Alcorta denounced Manzur in March 2019 for obstructing a legal abortion in that province.
Before traveling to La Rioja, the President received Gómez Alcorta in Olivos and there they talked "about the lack of gender parity in the Cabinet with special concern," the official said on Twitter, noting that Fernández promised to
work "in set to reverse it
.

The full statement from Actrices Argentinas:
From Actrices Argentinas we express our rejection of the appointment of Juan Manzur as Chief of Ministers of the Nation, a cabinet where gender inequality stands out.
The movement of women and diversities fights against the horror and non-compliance of laws that destroy the lives of girls, women and diversities.
This list of cases (all in Tucumán, Manzur territory and which is also a declared enemy of women, diversities and children): should embarrass those who govern us and call themselves “feminists”.
- Bethlehem, imprisoned for a SPONTANEOUS abortion. Lucia, an 11-year-old girl whom the provincial government forced her to give birth. Cecilia Ousset, a gynecologist, criminally denounced and persecuted for performing an abortion on that 11-year-old girl. Paola Tacacho, murdered after reporting to the Tucuman police. Fátima Aparicio, victim of a femicide, after the Tucumán police refused to take her complaint. Lupe, victim of abuse, fraud, threats by the political power and the police, begs to be taken out of Tucumán while her life is at risk.
- Where is Lupe going now? Who guarantees that the ILE is implemented throughout the national territory, and the IVE, our law, won in the streets? Who protects the women victims of Tucumán mayors, councilors, legislators and police denounced for abuses, death threats and violence of all kinds? Who will ensure that the REAL implementation of INTEGRAL SEXUAL EDUCATION occurs throughout the national territory? Who assures us that gender policies will continue? Surely not Manzur, known for his anti-rights stances and promoter of his province being declared “pro-life”.
What does it mean that both President Alberto Fernández and Vice President Cristina Fernández agree on the name of JUAN MANZUR, for social organizations, for feminisms and for groups that protect children?
We demand that the State guarantee the rights conquered by women and diversities.
With decisions like this, we are a long way from having finished with the Patriarchate, Mr President.
