Eurasburg - For more than a year now, the Habichtgraben in the Lengenwies district of Eurasburg has been widened to protect residents from flooding during heavy rain.
In the course of the construction work, the former Isar valley bridge will also be demolished and replaced by a new steel framework construction.
There is now an offer on the table for this - and that is significantly more expensive than was originally estimated, as Moritz Sappl announced at the latest municipal council meeting.

The water management office in Weilheim announced that the tender for the construction works for bridge and road construction had meanwhile been issued.

In the original cost calculation by the Munich engineering firm SKI, the construction work was estimated at around 800,000 euros.
According to the letter from the Water Management Authority, the cost increase is largely due to two items: the construction site equipment and the steel truss bridge.
For “setting up, holding and clearing” the construction site, the bidder had set “approximately ten times the estimated costs”.

The higher costs of the steel framework construction are due to the "currently extremely high steel price".
For the municipality, which has to contribute 30 percent to the flood protection measures, this means an additional expenditure of 183,000 euros - instead of the previous 483,000 it is now 666,000 euros.
According to the mayor, there are also costs for two smaller bridges to neighboring properties.
“The hardware store price is nothing else.
We have to accept that, ”said Mayor Sappl.
Or, to put it another way: “Hang along, caught up.” After all, the local council made a decision at the time and said: “We want the bridge.”
The committee had rejected the option of lowering the busy footpath and bike path between Eurasburg and Beuerberg, leading it over the creek at ground level and leading it back up the slope on the other side.

The massive structure is now to be demolished in October.
In the past three months, the fiber optic cables have been removed from the bridge - mostly at night.
The new steel bridge is to be built in spring 2022, which, according to the mayor, “arrives in one piece”.
