France announced tonight (Saturday) that it will return to the country its ambassadors to the United States and Australia. This follows the new defense alliance between the United States, Britain and Australia to curb China in the Pacific, which led to the cancellation of submarine purchases from France for tens of billions of dollars.

This is an unprecedented move and the first time France has repatriated its ambassador from the United States, a longtime ally. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian declared in a statement that the decision, made by President Emmanuel Macron, was "justified, due to the extraordinary seriousness" of the US and Australian announcements regarding the deal. He said the decision to cancel the acquisition of French submarines by Australia was "unacceptable behavior between a partner and an ally".

Ambassador Philip Etienne tweeted that "the decision is directly affected by our vision for partnerships and alliances."

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said France was "a vital partner and our oldest ally. We see great value in relations between the countries".

He added that the next few days, attempts are made to resolve the dispute, among other things, the UN General Assembly in New York next week. Causes White House said that Biden administration was in contact with French diplomats about the return of the ambassador.

Australia expressed regret over the decision of France To return the ambassador to Canberra. The Foreign Office said that "we look forward to cooperating with France on the many issues in which we have a common interest and values."

The decision to return the ambassadors marks a sharp turn in the attitude of the moderate Macron.

The French president, who knew of a fragile relationship with former President Donald Trump, showed a warm attitude towards President Biden at the G7 summit held in June, declaring that "America is back."

During his four years in office, Macron pushed to strengthen France's influence in European policy-making, as well as to reduce military dependence on the United States.

For the first time since taking office, Macron is not expected to attend the UN General Assembly next week, when he will be replaced by Secretary of State Le Darian.

Le Darian yesterday accused Biden of stabbing France in the back. "This cruel, one-sided and unexpected decision reminds me very much of what Trump did to us," the Secretary of State said in a radio interview. "It's a betrayal of trust and I'm very angry."

French officials in Washington said the Biden administration "blinded" France and blamed U.S. officials for hiding information about the deal, despite repeated inquiries by French diplomats, who suspected something was happening.

An official told the New York Times that the French government tried to talk to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan - but was rejected.

The source said the US actions undermined trust between the two allies and only strengthened the belief of President Emanuel Macron and other French officials that America is no longer a credible partner - a belief that has grown stronger during Trump's four years in office.
