2021-09-18T17:07:42.536Z

In the lead before the third and final lap, the French n ° 1 held on to win with a lead over the Scottish Kylie Henry. Pauline Roussin-Bouchard completed the podium alongside the solid Anaïs Meyssonnier.

Favorite of the Lacoste Ladies Open of France, Céline Boutier (-11) did not fail despite the pressure to play her favorite tournament in front of her audience.

The 27-year-old French number one wins her first French Open thanks to a final birdie putt of twelve meters at 18, where she was nevertheless on two bogeys during the first two laps!

In the lead after 36 holes, the Francilienne remained neck and neck all day with the Scottish Kylie Henry who finally lost a point.

The Briton even took advantage of two successive bogeys from Boutier (11 and 12) to take control alone until the birdie of the Frenchwoman at 14 which put the two young women tied at -10.

But while the experienced 35-year-old Briton was content with nine starts on her return trip, the risk-taking of the favorite of the Gironde public finally paid off with this ultimate long-distance feat on her 54th hole.

Already crowned in the Solheim Cup with Europe for the second time in a row two weeks ago, Céline Boutier is extending her fantastic month of September with a first title at her national Open.

Roussin-Bouchard answers present

Announced as the future star of hexagonal golf at 21, Pauline Roussin-Bouchard almost succeeded in an improbable feat on Saturday. Relaunched in the race for the top 10 with a card of 68 during the second round, the protégé of Alain Alberti slammed an eagle on the par 5 of hole number 14 of the Châteaux course to leap onto the provisional podium. The title could even have been offered in the event of the end of the dantesque tournament, but his birdie at 16 was not enough, especially with a bogey at 18.

This podium remains a huge feat that she was able to share with her training partner and European Tour player, Alexander Levy, who gave her the prize.

Anaïs Meyssonnier is the other good surprise from France, with a third place also at -8, after leading the tournament in the first round.

In the last part with Boutier and Henry, Argentina's Magdalena Simmermacher is content with the last step of the podium with Roussin-Bouchard and Meyssonnier after a last card of 70.

Five Bleues in the top 20 for the last at the Médoc

Two other Habs finished in the top 20. Girondine Emma Grecchi finished 16th alongside the 2018 winner Caroline Hedwall, who signed a hole in one at 8. Winner in 2015, Céline Herbin pulled off a top 20 with a last lap in 69 .

For the last one at the Golf du Médoc, the teams of Vincent Paris had the chance to see a Frenchwoman triumph, after the second places in 2019 of Céline Boutier (already her) then of Céline Herbin in 2020. A nice final bouquet before launching other sporting challenges, while the future destination of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France is not yet known.
