Even optically, little will soon be reminiscent of the old Kirchenwirt.

Korbinian Kohler has given his hip Hotel Bussi Baby a makeover.

Bad Wiessee -

The new plans were made by district architect Christian Boiger.

He rejected the original plan and convinced the hotelier to do it all over again.

In July, the building committee of the Wiesse municipal council waved benevolently through the renovation requests from hotelier Korbinian Kohler.

As reported, a spa area with sauna and swimming pool is to be built on the top floor.

On the south side, towards the church, roof incisions were planned, on the street side the changes were to be barely visible from the outside.

The dark wooden facade of the former Hotel Wiesseer Hof, once known as the Kirchenwirt, is particularly striking.

Kohler bought the building, completely redesigned the inside and opened it as Hotel Bussi Baby in June 2018.

Flat roof with roof terrace

But Kohler can only get started when the district office as the approval authority gives its okay.

However, district architect Christian Boiger disapproved of the draft approved by the local council.

The plan was not approvable, he said.

Kohler's architect Ralph Gierlinger hastily produced a new design.

Result: The facade of the Bussi Baby is aligned with the Kohler's staff house, which was completed at the beginning of the year.

Means: The old building will be given a light larch wood cladding.

In addition, the roof structure of the extension is omitted, a flat roof remains.

"This is a completely new picture," said building authority manager Anton Bammer at the presentation in the local council.

On-site appointment before the meeting

Shortly before the meeting there was an on-site meeting with hotelier Kohler, architect Gierlinger, district builder Boiger and the community representatives.

Gierlinger and Boiger had also come to the public meeting.

The change made the building look “more elegant and slimmer”, said Boiger: “That’s a win.”

The majority of the local council saw it the same way.

The draft was approved by 13: 3 votes.

Actually, the decision-making would have been a matter for the building committee.

But Kohler did not want to wait until its next meeting, which is why the decision was transferred to the committee that met earlier.

Criticism of the sauna window

Klaudia Martini (SPD) voted against, but she was the only one to reject the first draft.

She could neither make friends with the flat roof nor with the “terrible sauna window” and reprimanded the “total lathing” in the direction of the church and the hill.

The light facade is basically okay, but it actually considers it appropriate to recognize the history of a house in the dark places, Martini judged.

In contrast, Florian Sareiter (CSU) spoke of an improvement.

He thinks the adaptation of the old building to the modern staff house is good.

Overall, the appearance is brighter, but the building will still be preserved, explained Sareiter: "It's good to be able to make old things new."

Birgit Trinkl (FWG) also found the current planning more beautiful than the previous one, Johannes von Miller (Greens) saw the design with light wood as an asset, but wanted readjustments in the design of the balconies.

Hotel closes for renovation

Kohler himself is happy about the suggestions from the district builder.

Boiger was right in his objections.

"This is now also a significant improvement in terms of content," says Kohler.

He is happy about the "super togetherness" with the district authority and the community.

Kohler plans to start construction as soon as the official permit has been received.

The hotel will close at the end of October due to the renovation.

When the reopening will be possible is still open.

But Kohler is pushing the pace as usual: By Easter 2022 at the latest, the Bussi Baby should be there with a spa and in a new look.
